Werk Force Event Recap

On a chilly evening we had a great turnout at Werk Force Brewing Company in Plainfield, IL. Vanessa Sula, DarkSky Chi advocate, planned the event and presented the benefits of responsible lighting. Over craft beer and friendly conversation, she presented at various tables around the room – demonstrating simple ways to improve lighting.

It’s not about NO light, it’s about responsible lighting.
— Vanessa Sula

By simply changing the temperature of the bulbs and adding a shield that directs the light downward, Vanessa demonstrated how one can create a more pleasant and safe environment for people, animals and the planet.

Thank you to Whitmore Ace Hardware in Plainfield for your generous donation of the amber BUG bulbs. Switching to amber bulbs attracts less bugs, because they’re at a spectrum most insects can’t perceive. So if you can’t update your light fixtures to Dark Sky Approved fixtures just yet, switching to amber bulbs is a good first step in combating light pollution. As always, switching your lights off if you’re not outside is the best way to protect the night.

Thank you Werk Force Brewing Company in Plainfield for hosting our event.

An enlightening evening for everyone - even the kids!
